Things going on that I have not had time to write about:

- We went out to a Mexican restaurant with a sis-in-law for Quatro de Mayo and sat in the bar where all the tvs were tuned to kids movies or Nickelodeon shows. That cracked me up to no end.

- We broke family tradition and actually went to a Mexican restaurant on Cinco de Mayo. Traditionally we go to a Mexican place on St. Pat's and an Irish bar on Cinco de Mayo. Mark was going to suggest sushi this year.

- Mark bought me business cards!!!!

- I have an upgraded TENS unit. I love the unit - it has 4 settings including one that is gradually increasing and decreasing pulses. That one is my very favorite. It was great to actually meet with a rep and learn some of the care and feeding of the TENS. For example, that strange itching sensation I would get from the pads sometimes that I thought was irritated skin? Nope, it was the pad being placed on bone and bone conducts the energy differently. Pads should not go on bone.

- The only thing I really hate about the new TENS is the batteries. It uses rechargables, but they don't hold a charge for long. I'm constantly running out of juice when I'm working in the morning, having to go home to get a new battery for the afternoon and then THAT one craps out first thing when I get to work the next morning. I have to get in the habit of carrying a spare with me.

- I've been on the cusp of a flare for over a week, but the TENS seems to be staving it off some....

- I also got a therapy to wear 40 minutes a day. I haven't really used it, but the rep swears by it.

- I finally got so sick of the general jackassery that is trying to get my medications from Carrs that I switched everything over to Fred's. Only thing is, they switched by birth control pills. Same formula, different brand they say. But. My anti-spazz pill is affected by my hormone levels. Old pills I'd get 5 days or so where I would get so tired I could barely function.. Today is the first day in 2 weeks I've managed to get through the day without a nap, and the exhaustion always hits like a freight train about half an hour after I take the anti-spazz pills. Going to be talking to someone about this.

- Also looking to fire the Spine Doc over all this medication jackassery.

- Still deciding if I'm going to work on Conservatory this summer. I'll be able to direct the little-little show if I want to. Will decide tomorrow.

- I am directing 2, count them TWO shows next spring! One for ATY and one for ACT.

- Went to see Flamel's Dream. I really enjoyed it. Would love to talk with the playwright about some of the imagery.

- Working from home would occasionally go a lot better if I didn't own a phone.

- I survived the Asian Culture school show and I didn't cry! Most of the last half of the show came straight out of our asses, but there was only one real problem, it was early, and we fixed it!

- It was not until after the school when I mentioned to my mentor that people kind of went "ba-WHA!!?!?" when I warned Sound Cue A that she realized I've never called a dance show before. I guess dance shows use numbers or names for sound cues and theatre uses numbers. I just went back to telling him which disc to put in and it went great, though I guess one of the techs was asking another if I'd ever done a show like this before once the curtain was down. The reply was that I'd done "...things..." before. Luckily my mentor was there and told them I'd never done THIS show before. Immediately one of them said "Oh! Well then she did GREAT!"

- We're going to see Night of the Living Dead on the big screen tonight! *squee!!* Diary of the Dead is playing this weekend but I managed to schedule myself to work both nights. My only hope is one thing getting out a little early.

- I like thinking in fake bullet points.

- My Palm is working again! The poor thing crapped out while I was visiting the FLO for Christmas and refused to charge. I *finally* found a helpful clerk who let me try a new USB cable and my brain is back!! I have my entire schedule all color-coded so I can tell where I'm working just with a glance!

- The Brr-lesque show was great! Stoney and Rodney just killed with their 3 Best of sketches and I got to try my full new costume out. I even had new makeup. I need to get more sensible heels, though. The ones I bought are so high they are almost fetish heels and I can barely walk in them. Every time I had to go downstairs, someone was making a joke about if I needed help. I think a couple of the men would have carried me if I'd asked, though.

- I won at the Kentucky Derby party again this year!

I'm looking at a busy weekend! I actually made a calendar for the fridge to help keep track of everything this summer. I hope it works!

I house managed 2 ATY shows at the Center yesterday and went out for sushi with userinfospaceyacey523 between shows.

Today I'm pretty free aside from lunch with userinfoname_omitted and a meeting about seating for the Brr-lesque show. So I should actually earn some money by finishing a project for Wild Berry instead of just surfing around and role-playing.

Saturday is the great Kentucky Derby party and then the last Brr-lesque show of the season with the appropriate after-party. I think this is the first time I will not have to leave the Derby party within half an hour of arriving to get to a show. And I should actually be able to drink an entire mint julep this year! Be still my heart!

Sunday is Ren Fair rehearsal and I'm going to skip out of that a little early to catch the last show of Flamel's Dream. Mark got to see it last night and really enjoyed it. I still need to see if my skirt for Fair can be altered and I should look for a new hat. I say that every year, but I think this will really be the one. I'm not sure if the skirt can be saved. I really hope so!

Okay, know how every time I do an orientation when I stage manage and I start to explain the procedures for a fire drill and I say that in 5+ years of working at the PAC I have never had to evacuate the theatre and then I make everyone laugh by rapping on the metal bar of the safety rail in front of me?

Yeeeeaaaaahhh....

The best part is that the fire alarm was pulled by the baby sister of 2 of my old ATY cast members.

- Happy birthday Shakespeare!

- Happy 80th Birthday to my Favorite Uncle!!

- Has anyone actually seen Diary of the Dead? It's at Beartooth next weekend and I am mad to see it. But as Mark put it after watching the preview, if the whole movie is like trying to watch scrambled porn - that's a deal breaker. We saw Cloverfield last night and did okay with that. It was great that they didn't cheat and use one, but there were points where I caught myself thinking "Okay, steadycams were invented for a reason!"

- Anyone want to go to Beartooth tomorrow night for the 10:00 show of Be Kind Rewind?

- Speaking of movies - Support my job! Go see the Mel Brooks Double Feature Friday April 25th at the Wild Berry Theatre (5225 Juneau St.). Young Frankenstein at 7pm and History of the World Part 1 at 9pm. $10 for both features, a drink and popcorn. Call 562-0497 for more information.

- Anchorage BPALers check in - should we place an order for imps or bottles?

- Also for Anchorage, if you had the chance to go to a local Lebowski Fest, would you?

Menopause was sadly uneventful last night, even though all 3 of the big theatre were running and there were plenty of chances for fun and excitement.

So instead of funny, I give you cool.

Two awesome on-line comics:

http://www.cheshirecrossing.net/

Mark got back from Kodiak yesterday. He said it was a highlight of the trip. Even though there were a lot of other things going on in town they had a good crowd and were treated like royalty. Kodiak was my favorite stop last year, so I am really jealous.

That's about the news here. Any cool links to share with me?

I was House Managing again tonight.

A couple arrived almost 2 hours early and were sitting in the lobby having drinks.

As the lobby began to fill up with other patrons, the husband called over my Usher Captain.

"Why," asked the husband innocently, "are there so many more women than men here tonight?"

"Well, I'd say it's because this is Menopause, the Musical," replies my Usher Captain, and he proceeds to explain to the husband what the show is about.

"Really!?!? My wife told me it was about Minneapolis!" exclaims the husband. "No wonder she wanted me to have this beer."

My hand to Zod, Minneapolis. You just can't make this shit up.

So last night I was House Managing for the opening night of Menopause, the Musical. I just finished my reminder to turn off all cell phones, pagers and other items that go beep-beep-beep and suddenly I have a patron waving at me rather frantically. I head over to her as soon as I'm done with the announcement.

"Excuse me," says the nice patron-lady, who is standing next to a very tall gentleman with his hand over his face. "Didn't you mean to say 'Ladies and GentleMAN' because I'm looking around and my husband is the only man here!"

This sounds so much like something my mother would do, I immediately get the giggles. We look left, look right. Sure enough he IS the only man to be seen throughout the main lobby. His wife starts to giggle. He is a good sport about all this, though, and starts to mutter things like, "Yeah, I came in here and I saw TWO men. Me and the me in the mirror."

As more people arrived, I kept checking back on the two of them to give updates like "Oh, wait! I just saw another gentleman get in the elevator!" and his wife would exclaim happily "See honey, we're up to 10 now!" And we would giggle and he would hide.

At the end of the show, the first person out of the house was an older man with a cane who asked me, "Is that mandatory viewing for men now?"

The second person was my friend, the hider, followed by a gaggle of women laughing and yelling "Aww, were you embarrassed?"

"Yes!" He yelled back over his shouulder. "I'm going to go home and DIE now!"

I caught his wife's arm as she passed me and whispered to her, "If you really want to be mean. Tell him it's not over yet. I'm blogging this."

Mark and I went to see No Country for Old Men last night. Well, he saw it. I took my meds at the start of the movie and drifted off at some point. Next thing I know I have a very aghast Mark yelling "You were asleep?!?!" All the way back to the car, all he could talk about was how great the ending is. I'm going to try to go again tonight. And not be medicated.

Also last night, I kept having nightmares that my hand and neck hurt really bad. I have the feeling it was a long time before I woke up enough to realize that if my fingers were numb, I needed to roll over. I'm pretty uncomfortable today from all that.

Mark is off to Valdez with the show this weekend.

I'm working at Wild Berry all day today, then stopping in at a party and hopefully seeing the end of the movie. Life's pretty full.

What are you up to today?

day 5 - able to drive comfortably. Able to change clothes multiple times without any involuntary swearing. Still feel on the high end of normal on the pain scale.

Last night I saw Kenny G in the back halls at the PAC. I smiled and said "hello". He made a goofy face at me.
