This year I included a wish on my holiday_wishes list for people to support local theatre and shows. This is your place to tell me about what you have seen this year.
Oh, break a leg! No standing O for us, but "Doubt" isn't that sort of show. We did have one patron tell us it was thought provoking and the actors were great.
Sadly, our opening scene - the actor is supposed to be delivering a sermon and he went blank... yeah, that was a first...
It really is. I was on the artistic committee that chose it and I was blown away by it. Haven't heard of yours - comedy or something else?
He went dry for nearly a minute, which, of course, seems like a year when it's happening to you. We are seeing it tomorrow night and I can't wait. Now, if no one else's car gets broken into, I will be really happy.
Sadly, skating is one of those no-no things for me now. I trashed my back flipping a platform back in '05. Now, like so many other techs, I am plagued with back issues.
I had to undergo surgery and have a mess of hardware put in to support my spine. My surgeon would throttle me if I tried. One bad fall and I could be permanent messed up. So, sadly none of that or horse riding, mountain climbing, 4x4, jumping, etc. He saved me from a life in a wheelchair, so I tend to follow his instructions petty closely these days.
Mine is pretty fucked up, bit not requiring hardware. My only restriction is that if I take a fall and my hand goes numb, I need to seek help immediately because I likely ruptured one of the herninated discs in my neck.
Mine is in my lower back - lumbar - and was making my legs go wonky. As long as I am careful, don't exceed my weight limit, and try not to forget that I'm disabled now, I should be able to avoid anymore surgery. Still doesn't keep me from theatre - the things you do for love.
Ah, you have to appreciate parents. Mine just sent our theatre a resume (yeah, right). He wants to design "Legally Blonde" next year, but I think he just wants to come home for a while (he works on Broadway as a designer) on our dime.
Considering there was no pressure for him to follow his old mum. My best moment was building a set for him (South Pacific). Ironically, it was the last set I built as my back blew after that.
